Julian Stanczak

The Father of Op Art does not want to be called “the Father of Op Art”.
The title of Julian Stanczak’s first solo show in New York was meant to stir up controversy. “Optical Paintings” managed to do just that, with the ensuing media uproar coining the iconic title of the Op Art movement. But Stanczak never fully accepted that title. In an interview he pointed out that it doesn’t fully encompass the depth of his work.
